The answer to this issue is that schools need to provide free lunch programs so that students can eat while they’re at school. A recent American Academy of Pediatrics study revealed that students spend almost nine hours a day on electronic devices. Most of this time is spent on social media, watching videos, or using apps. This is because cell phones allow students to be more connected than ever before. However, even though we have more access to information through technology, this also means that we are spending less time learning in traditional ways, like reading books or doing homework. It also means that we have reduced opportunities for children to learn without constant supervision.
The consequences of excessive screen time include impaired sleep, problems paying attention at school and home, disrupted relationships with family members and friends, lower grades in school, depression, and anxiety. One way parents can reduce their child’s exposure to screens is by establishing healthy boundaries around when it’s ok to use a phone and when it isn’t.
Another way parents can set limits around screens is by limiting the number of times per day their child can use their device. For example, limit phone usage to an hour in the morning and an hour at night. Parents can also take advantage of parental controls offered by some wireless companies that allow parents to monitor their child’s internet usage or restrict it entirely.
Having an underfunded public school system is a major issue in many states. Teachers are often underpaid for the amount of work they do, usually not making more than $40,000 a year. The lack of resources can be a problem because, without money, it is difficult to provide students with the tools necessary to succeed academically.

Education should not be a commodity. It is a basic human right, an inherent natural endowment that every person has the potential to develop. There are many problems in our current Social Education issues system: teachers have too much homework. Testing is rigorous and unfair, too many people cannot afford a higher level of schooling, private schools get privileged treatment, etc. The solution can be fixing these problems so all students can reach their full potential. Freeing up time for teachers would give them more opportunities to work with individual students and make sure they understand concepts before moving on.
Teachers could also be compensated better than most jobs requiring a college degree. Tests should focus more on whether the student understands rather than memorization. This will help teach kids what they need to know. Prepare them for later in life when knowledge becomes obsolete.
Schools could offer scholarships for high achieving low-income families. Provide all students free breakfast, lunch and dinner, so no one goes hungry. Private schools could have increased regulations placed on them (like public schools) if they want government funding. These changes would allow everyone to receive equal opportunities regardless of socioeconomic status.
A school system is where students are expected to learn, grow, and mature to be successful in life. However, the system is not set up for every student. Students who do not fit the mold of what a perfect student should look like often struggle. Under the pressure of standardized tests and expectations they cannot meet. Schools need more programs that focus on things other than Academics so that all students can feel supported. Teachers need to be able to go outside of the curriculum when they see something that isn’t working. For their particular class or individual student without being penalized or put on a watch list by the administration.
